Applying Scrum methodologies at a lower scale
Scrum and Agile are about delivering the work you're expected to in a timely manner while minimizing waste and maximizing productivity and fulfillment.
On smaller-scale projects like independent projects or college work, there's still a lot you can transfer over, but the times established in Scrum don't really work anymore.
Try dividing your time into even blocks, and dividing your work items by size like Scrum suggests. Use the first division of your time for getting to the Definition of Ready on all your items. Then every time you grab an item:
- Review the plan, adjusting if needed.
- Implement (with coverage and documentation).
- Ask someone else to review the results or give it a quick sanity check.
I believe this is the best takeaway from Scrum when the scale does not require all its components.
