W3C Accessibility Guidelines
Developing with accessibility in mind means supporting reader technology and, at the very least, passing inspections such as those provided by Accessibility Insights for Web.
Components should be recognized by the system as what they actually are, have proper contrast, be properly labelled-with ARIA identifiers in HTML-and be fully accessible using only a keyboard, among other things.
Your interface should also remain viewable by a sighted person while a blind person is using it, so they can share activities.
See the official W3C Accessibility Guidelines, or the more readable WCAG AA checklist.
